Born in the Czech Republic, I first started making short films when I began formally studying art in Dublin, Ireland. These were typically short films inspired by my life, nature, and my local surroundings. Themes vary from motherhood to female sexuality, memories, and nature. I hold a BA in Fine Art from DIT/TU and an MFA from NCAD, Dublin, Ireland. I primarily work under a name Bara Palcik on a contract basis as a self-employed artist, filmmaker, and editor. My work is deeply shaped by my international upbringing and my experience as a single parent.
Throughout my career, I have developed a strong ability to create meaningful, engaging, and thought-provoking work through short experimental films, which have been exhibited both nationally and internationally at film festivals.
