The Ballad of Simon and Teresa

Teresa is eagerly expecting Simon ́s return in prayers. His elder brother Matej has already lost his hope. Matej asks Teresa to become his wife, but as she remains silent to his proposition, Simon returns. The war has left its trace on him and gradually, despite the care and help of the others, Simon falls deeper into lethargy. What place has faith in a world, that has just lost its own?

Director Statement

For me it is a film about faith. About faith so strong, that it can help return a young man from the war and yet, faith so weak, that it cannot save him at last. It is a ballad set at the dawn of The Great war, but also a lament over the state of our world and dark times that sometimes seem inevitably to come upon us once again.
