  • Austin Arthouse Film Festival was a wonderful experience. Even though it had to be held as an online festival We felt warmly welcome. I was more than happy that my film shade guzzling won the Linklater Award for best writing. The films selected were of such a good quality, that even being selected was a big honor. Gizelle and Liz did an awesome job in communication. Hope to be part of the festival next time after Covid 19 and see them and other filmmakers.

This has gotta be one of the coolest art film festivals in existence. A warm shout out to Liz & Giselle for pulling this event all together. Wonderful communication and a really gorgeous website design.

I am so honored to have my hand-painted Direct Animation short abstract film MASS FOR SHUT-INS nominated for the Svankmajer Award (for Best Animation) and thrilled that you also ran my DADA SHIP. I love everything about the Austin Arthouse Film Festival! There is a true love for outsider art and underground experimental film. The curating is exceptional, diverse and inclusive and absolutely wild!

Thanks for supporting true art films and keeping alive the spirit of Luis Buñuel and Maya Deren!! I hope one of these days I win an award in their name.

  • I was honored to show my short film Pleasures in the festival! It was an online venue due to Covid-19 but it felt as close to actually being there as possible.

Brilliant that this festival exists. There needs to be more film festivals where the filmmaking is at the heart. Very stylishly put together. I would definitely submit to this festival again. Thank you for selecting my first feature Ruby which was up for three awards. Just AMAZING! a life line for filmmakers who live outside the realms of commercially driven films.
