Majored in politics and journalism, Yann Kerloc’h worked as a film journalist specialised in Asian movies, then in film sales and coproduction companies. In between, he directed film projects and discovered a passion for South Korea, where he is living since 2009 and directed several short films, with Korean teams, French and/or Korean actors. In 2016, Like a B1 was selected in 20 film festivals in Korea, France and rest of the world. IN 2018, the short film Bam Bam Bam premiered in Jecheon Music and Film Festival and is the first of several projects related to music, followed by the short film At your pace. In 2017, his feature film project Warm Blood was part of the workshop Ties That Bind of Udine and Singapour Film Festival.
This film is my way to express my fears and hopes as a foreigner in a country, who is still searching for ways to deepen my relationship with this country, and this relationship is close to a love story. Then this film became a romantic comedy.
I also wanted to explore more deeply ways of expression through body language or music, like I’ve done in my previous films (Like a B1, Bam Bam Bam). This time, I’ve focused on dance. I think that when you express yourself without verbal language, you can share more easily stories with people and cultures you don’t know.
Lastly, this film is as well for me like a fresh second start, which matches with the feelings of Paul, the main character. I made this film like in my early days of filmmaking, mainly improvised, with a very small crew and micro budget.
