Director Statement

"Astray" was inspired by my experience as a non-traditional college student in my early 30s. This gave me an unconventional perspective of the institution and more importantly, all the potential my fellow classmates had to offer.

This is a complex film with many narrative layers that many people enjoy more on a second or third viewing. The script required us to shoot in 18 locations (16 in the final cut) over the course of 3 weeks. This collaborative project created an excellent learning opportunity for everyone on the volunteer cast and crew, including myself.
