Astitva ( Translated as 'Identity' in Sanskrit)
‘Astitva’ is a series of three films portraying the changing dynamic of an Indian woman’s identity in the 21st century. The film is conceptualized as a sculpture of movement, uniting performance and cinema to echo the evolving context.
Set in the inherent traditional atmosphere of the society, the film exposes the intangible battle of a woman’s development. The first presents the liberated self-image, the internal perception of her in her mind. The second illustrates a projected ideal to the society, combining the self and conformity. The third renders the quest and determination in her struggle for independence and self-definition.
