This year marks the 24th anniversary of ASIFA-South (formerly ASIFA-Atlanta), the Southern chapter of ASIFA International (Association Internationale du Film d’Animation). What has started out as a showcase over the past 16 years has expanded into a two-day long festival and conference.
Now in its third year, ASIFAC Animation Festival has become an annual competitive event open to students, independent animators, and professionals. Selected entries offer diverse perspectives in the form of 2-D, Stop Motion, 3-D and hybrid-mixes to deliver inspiring and thought provoking films.
Juries for our film and panelists includes an array of industry professionals such as producers, directors, head of studio, and artists from Dreamworks, Adult Swim, Floyd County Productions, Third Floor studio, EA and more.
The conference and festival serves to highlight the magic of animation and its power to bring forth humor, imagination and art. Selected entries from the Southern Spotlight block will also be considered for our International Animation Day, which participating partner chapters all over the world will share.
The three program blocks are as follows:
International Block: For our animator friends across borders, oceans, continents, enter your shorts for this block.
Animated Feature: The most ambitious of all animated projects, this category is dedicated to films of an hour or more in run-time.
Southern Spotlight Showcase: A showcase filled with animated shorts from students, independent animators and professionals in the south US. Only shorts made in the South US region qualifies for this program. Includes Maryland.
Saturday Morning Kid Friendly Block: These are entries that can be enjoyed by families and kids of a young age.
This two-day animation conference and festival will also include panels by professional animators in the local industry. There will also be an Awards ceremony at the last day of the conference.
