All of my struggles and every lesson I learned on the streets between the ages of 22 and 30 brought me through moments of success. I’ve learned not to regret past mistakes but embrace every piece of knowledge learned of people that crossed my path, their behaviors, and their desires. I’ve learned just because a door slams shut; it does not mean the option is gone. It means I might need to get a crowbar to pry it back open.

Thank you for volunteering your time to the continuation of the reading of my profile. You should know that I have been a well sought out educational behavior specialist. Not because of the academic diplomas that I have acquired but because I understand first-hand what it was like to be held back twice in elementary school. I recall what it felt like to be told that “education is not for everyone, Tyra.” I have felt the heartbreak of the struggle to read; however, I’m still here. For over 17 years, I have taught teachers how to work with students with behavioral issues accompanied by learning gaps. My former students have grown up and have had their own children. I can not wait for you to hear my story.
