Since 2016, 75 percent of the Gaissau-Hintersee ski lift company is owned by the Chinese J&Y Holding Group Ltd. in Beijing. In the winter of 2017 the lift went into operation for the last time due to missing payments from the owner. In the region and beyond many people are disappointed and annoyed, because they were looking forward to new investments, which could have saved the company. In October 2019 a group of eight freeholders came forward with an insolvency application against the owner. A restart seems to be very unlikely at the moment.
In response to this difficult situation I hiked up the Hintersee ski slope (together with two artists from the Viennese performance-theater group God’s Entertainment) and rolled down the mountain. This activity was captured in a short video.
