The Alpenfest Film Award (AFFA) is an annual film festival that takes place over five days in Vienna, Austria. The festival screens all films in a cinema with full surround sound and crystal-clear visuals. Attending filmmakers have the opportunity to participate in post-screening Q&A sessions, red carpet interviews, and nightly after parties.

In-competition films for AFFA come from open submissions via FilmFreeway, and winners are chosen by previous festival alumni and AFFA’s programming team. The festival also hosts in-depth panel discussions on various film-related topics during Industry Days.

AFFA films have gone on to have full theatrical releases and can be found on platforms such as Joyn and Maxdome.

Submissions are currently open for AFFA2024, which will take place from September 15-20 at the CineCenter in Vienna. The festival offers daily film screenings, red carpet interviews, Q&A sessions, and good times for all attendees.

«It was an amazing experience to attend the festival! The industry talks were incredibly helpful and informative, as they provided insight into the latest market trends. Additionally, there were plenty of networking opportunities. Everyone involved took advantage of the opportunity to connect with like-minded people and make great business connections. It was a pleasure attending this incredible festival and we look forward to another great year ahead at the same festival in future!»
