Eliaz Rodriguez is a self-taught filmmaker from Chicago. In 2008 he co-created the comedy group Wood Sugars and over the next five years produced/directed hundreds of films, web series, podcasts, and live comedy shows. In October of 2013 he made his first solo short film, an adaptation of a true story entitled Beverly, which went on to win Best In Show of the Cinema Minima Residency and Best of Fest of the Indie Incubator Film Fest.
Eliaz can also be heard weekly on segments of the podcast he engineers, named CinemaJaw - the greatest movies podcast ever.
Matthew Stromer, performer and stand-up comedian, would perform lip-sync medleys at the end of his stand-up sets for years. I was such a fan of them and in early 2015 I approached him about filming one of his medleys all in one room, shot in one take.
From there we started to pick a random assortment of songs, but I eventually came across the idea of having all of the songs have a central theme, which led to us focusing on loneliness, solitude and the acceptance of those emotions. I look forward to sharing this music video with festival and their audiences.
