Alexandrina - A Lightning Bolt

Alexandrina - A Lightning Bolt turns the cinema of invention into a fertile field of contestation, which dares to tear up the records of the perverse and lying past, where Alexandrina, a black woman from the Amazon, who had previously been reduced to an object of study, emptied of her vast repertoire of knowledge and then thrown into the limbo of supposed oblivion; now is the present!

Amazon, 19th century, the white hand of an artist completes a drawing. What would be just another naturalistic artistic record of any other expedition, reveals the racist gaze that was also structured on ancestral Amazonian soil, relentlessly dragging itself to contemporaneity. Alexandrina - A Lightning Bolt turns the cinema of invention into a fertile field of contestation, which dares to tear the records of the perverse and lying past, where Alexandrina, a black woman from the Amazon, who had previously been reduced to an object of study, emptied of her vast repertoire of knowledge and then thrown into the limbo of supposed oblivion; now is the present! And she launches herself into the future, where her indomitable hair and grotesque face succumb to the victory of a living memory that resists and fights to exalt the extreme beauty of the ancestors, who echo through the jungle, penetrate the earth, drink from the pure waters of rivers, the treetops flutter, and like a lightning they pass through the buildings of unconsciousness and warm the memories of those who know that what is beautiful does not die, it is transformed into another beauty. To print new possibilities of existence on the walls of the world, Alexandrina lives.
