A transplant from the technology world, Davis Hunt has started multiple websites and a comedy show while in Nashville, TN.
One time, he saw 'The Third Man' at an inconspicuous theater in Palo Alto, California which made him want to be a filmmaker.
This is his first short film.
This short stemmed mostly from my obsession with driving. I love driving.
Many people talk about how they get 'shower thoughts.' Well, I get 'driving thoughts.' There is nothing better to clear the head than an aimless drive.
Another influence was an old man I encountered in Spokane, Washington talking in what must be the last pay phone on Earth. I ended up getting into a conversation with him where he revealed that his wife of 40+ years wanted to leave him. I guess he just needed someone to talk to.
I literally googled 'why old people break up' when it occurred to me how crazy it was. 40 years into a marriage and you want to call it quits? I found that scenario kind of baffling.
Combine these two simple ideas and you get this little 5 minute short.
Originally this was a 20 minute film with 4 minutes of dialog and 15 minutes of driving (like I said, I love driving), but thanks to the sanity of my collaborators, we kept it grounded. Enjoy!
