Above The Water

How about unplanned holidays on the shores of a frozen lake?
"Above the water" is a story filled with cold, anxiety, loneliness and hope. It’s a story of a woman whose life changed overnight due to her aggressive partner. Fleeing from oppression, Maya (main character) couldn’t take her daughter for whom she now has to fight, not only with her sadist husband, but also with the lack of her own self-confidence. This short feature combines genre canons with the director's original perspective on the problems of inequality and violence. “Above the Water” is also a story about searching for inner strength and overcoming own’s weaknesses.

Director Biography - Aleksandra Mulier

Director, cinematographer, screenwriter and producer, graduate of the Łódź Film School (PWSFTiTv) and the European MBA Management Studies at the Krakow Business School. Author of film and video projects. A professional in the field of PR & Marketing, working in both Polish and foreign companies. An activist working within the Women’s Film Association, actively supporting the equality of all filmmakers in the industry.

Hello there!
I would like to invite you to a camping on the shores of a frozen lake, the place where my character decided to seek shelter and strength. Despite its severity, anxiety and loneliness, the film "Above the Water" is a picture full of hope, which I hope you will also find in it.
