Alma Cocaj is a filmmaker from Kosovo. She is 24 years old. She finished her film studies in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Hercegovina. "Zuta Deva" is her graduation film.
I decided to make this film because it was a challenge for me to
create something from a bunch of materials that were more visual
than narrative. After many alternatives that stood in front of me in
terms of how I am going to tell this story, at the same time I had in
mind that this is the film with which I will graduate. I decided to
experiment in style and genre.
What I wanted to keep close to was the story. Although the biggest
challenge was to stay objective towards the story, character and
genre that will elaborate my vision.
I was inspired by many works of Realism, French New Wave,
Queer, Poetic cinema etc.
