Jorge Sánchez Calderón (1982, Madrid) studied Graphic Design and Multimedia Design in Spain and England. Later he moved to Prague to study at prestigious FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) where he attained Bachelor of Arts and Master Degrees in film editing.
He focuses on author documentary both as an editor and director, working for TV and independent film projects. Besides, he's a skilled illustrator and animator, prolific punk musician and a relentless home-movies recorder.
With this film my main interest was to portray Gran Dani's unique worldview and inner disharmony, knocking down all the stereotypes of the "rockumentary" genre. Instead, I propose a journey inwards, into the soul of my best friend, exploring his dreams and visions, confronting his demons and revealing a profound life philosophy.
The film is a collage of video-diaries collected over a period of 13 years, found footage, voice-notes between director and protagonist and hand-rendered animations illustrating Gran Dani's state of mind and spiritual process.
