Sofia Brito is a film, theatre and television actress as well as a réalisateur.
She started her studies at the age of seven years old in the institute IVA (the old Labarden). Afterwards, she went on to train with Claudio Quinteros, Raúl Serrano, Ricardo Bartís, Nora Moseinco, to name a few, and later on with Guillermo Angelelli who she considers her teacher. In 2015, Brito was selected as part of the “Talents” program in Berlin, Mexico and Buenos Aires, where she studied with Jean Loui Rodrigué, a notorious coach for many Hollywood actors. Later in 2016, she was chosen again at the Berlinale Talents, where she was able to broaden her knowledge on the Alexander Tecniche. In 2017, she studied at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, in the Programa de Cine, coordinated by Andrés Di Tella, where she met her teacher James Benning. In 2018, she was funded to take part in the workshop Ensayo Documental, leaded by Vanessa Raone and Mariana Bomba.
On film, her most important parts as an actress were Los Salvajes by Alejandro Fadel (premiered in La Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes festival in 2012), feature film for which she was nominated at the 2013 Cóndor de Plata awards for the “Female Revelation” category. The wanted child, for which she was given the Female Revelation prize at the 29 International Festival of Mar del Plata, 2014. Eva No Duerme by Pablo Agüero (Premiered at the International Festival of San Sebastián, 2015), for which she was nominated as best Female Actress at the 2016 Cóndor de Plata awards. Her first protagonic role, The Omision by Sebastian Schjaer (premiered at the 68 Berlinale, 2018), for which she won the award “Carlos Carella” from the Asociación Argentina de Actores, the prize to the Best Actress at the 5th Mafici and the award for Best Actress of FIC Puerto Mont. Rosita by Verónica Chen, her second protagonic role, which was released at the 33 International Film Festival of Mar del Plata. Lastly, Telemundo, directed by James Benning.
On television, she made a guest apparence in the drama Tiempos Compulsivos, directed by Daniel Barone and was part of an episode of the series La última hora by Gastón Portal.
Brito took part on many theater plays, such as No me pienso morir by Mariana Chaud at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes, Hamlet está muerto. Sin fuerza de gravedad by Edmual Palmestofer, directed by Lisandro Rodriguez. Polite de Pablo Sigal. Babel Piraña by Guillermo Angelelli. Los Actos unas cuantas líneas by english director Jill Greenhalgh. Nowadays she performs the play De vez en cuando me derrumbo by Juan Gabriel Miño.
As a réalisateur/film maker, she is currently working on the postproduction of her first film 中孚 61. The Inner truth, produced by Bomba Cine, it was part of the 15 BAL of the 20 BAFICI, to be released in October 2019. Brito is also writing alongside Sacha Amaral, Shut up, please to begin filming on 2020, produced by BOMBA Cine (Argentina) and RICCA Films (Brasil).
