Zeryam

Zeryam is a transgender woman who lives in a ghetto neighbourhood in Alsancak, Izmir and who makes a living as a sex worker. The film depicts her journey from her flat in Alsancak to her village where she grew up and where her sister and relatives reside. It portrays multiple identities Zeryam performs in her life. As Zeryam moves from city to village, to nature and family, both Zeryam and the spectator get closer to her true self as a woman.

Director Biography - Selin Kara

Selin Kara is 25 years old from Münster, Germany. She is currently a fourth year-student at Yaşar University, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. She has a particular interest in documentary filmmaking. Zeryam (2022) is her first short documentary.
