Melody Tally began in the industry as an actor, and with her innately curious mind and technical inclination, for she is also a Mechanical Engineer, her expansion and progression for action behind the camera was perfectly natural. Melody is also a screenwriter and editor, and is self-taught in Adobe Premiere. Zero Gravity in A Black Box is her first film, which she wrote, starred in, edited and directed.
Roderick Giles began his decades-long career in the industry alongside Spike Lee in She's Gotta Have It. Throughout the 1990s, he directed music videos for popular hip-hop acts like Onyx. Roderick has taught filmmaking in workshops and classes in NYC. He's passionate about teaching and is enthused when his students comprehend and cultivate their own creativity and produce their own works. Roderick and frequented Cannes and sold a project to HBO.
Zero Gravity In A Black Box was the first short Melody & Roderick collaborated on. They also worked closely on a feature film, #DETENTION, where Melody lead the writing team and constructed the script and Roderick directed the film.
Zero Gravity In A Black Box is born from the premise of freedom from limitations, whether either societal or self-imposed. Simultaneously it's about personal liberation from fears in an effort to obtain a dream--leaving behind that which no longer serves, in order to gain that which is desired. It's a human story of growth, challenge-facing and triumph, all the while overcoming criticism and personal anxiety.
