ZeitGeist

Drawing inspiration from the Psychogeography art movement, ‘Zeitgeist’ is an essayistic slow film that explores feelings of melancholy through the relation between landscapes and human emotion. The taken journey, both physically and mentally, is closely related to a Derivé or wandering, floating from place to place and thought to thought. While passing through liminal spaces that challenge viewers to let go of their own self, they are invited to contemplate the nature of transience and loss, frustration and finding peace in nature, city, and abstracted inner worlds, accompanied by feelings of melancholy, catharsis, and peace.

Director Biography - Puck de Haan

Hi, I am Puck. A twice graduated young filmmaker living between Utrecht, The Netherlands and Karlsruhe, Germany. Specialising in experimental film in installative forms I wonder about filmic experience and how it can reach us.

Coming from a background of VFX and Motion Design I treat cinema from a visual standpoint, as well as being a writer and thinking about poetic sequence and meaning. My projects vary from installations focused on physical exploration, as well as films giving space to emotional exploration.
