Yuka Murakami works with video, text, and installation.
Yuka Murakami is a Los Angeles based artist and filmmaker. Her practice began in experimental sound, then afterwards in documentary filmmaking as a camera operator and editor. She has a B.S. in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego, and is currently a M.F.A candidate in Film Directing at the California Institute of the Arts. She was awarded the Alison Doerner Prize for Women Pioneers in Filmmaking in 2021 and the Emmy award in 2020 as a producer.
Her films have screened at various festivals and exhibitions across the country, including the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, DOC NYC, Center for Asian American Media, the Gene Siskel Film Center, LA Conservancy, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, San Diego Art Institute, among others.
