Ysabelle Taylor trained as a dancer at the Royal Ballet School in London and performed many solo and principal roles over ten years with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Scapino Ballet Amsterdam, Dublin City Ballet and Düsseldorf Ballet.
Awarded a prize for choreography at the International Ballet Competition in Helsinki, her commissions include works for Ballet Cymru in Wales, the Royal Ballet Educational Unit, London Studio Centre, Rambert School and Irish National Youth Ballet. She participated in the International Course for Choreographers and Composers under the direction of Robert Cohan, and produced and performed two full length solo shows in the UK. She also attended a course in film making for choreographers with Bob Lockyer at the Laban Centre, London.
As a tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance Ysabelle travelled worldwide teaching and choreographing for RAD summer schools and also tutoring teachers’ courses. Alongside her freelance work, she ran her own ballet school for 30 years in South London.
In 2021 she collaborated with the film maker Alice Pennefather to make a short dance film "Birdsong". This was selected for a number of International Film Festivals winning best short dance film prizes at the Madonie and Vesuvius Festivals, and was a finalist at the Amarcort Festival.
In 2023 she made a short dance film "Spirit of the Tree" in which she danced as well as choreographing, directing and producing.
