Hafizu Sandro was born in Bukittinggi, Indonesia in 1998, took his first education at Andalas University, West Sumatra in 2016 majoring in Food Technology. In between his studies, he decided to move to Jogja Film Academy to study film. Because according to him life is about telling stories, he chose films to tell stories.
Basically, this story is based on the director's personal experience, namely how the relationship with his father did not go well since he was a teenager, a father who often blamed and scolded turned out to have an effect on the person in the process of managing emotions that were not good and became a temperamental person, and today, on the journey of reflection, the director finally understands and comprehends what has happened and how to manage emotions and respond to his father's behavior towards him.
Every family has its own way of life. In the family, there is a father figure where individuals who are close and distant to me, especially me as the eldest child, and a son who has grown up. Father lives with his thoughts, and I grow from that idea. Then one day I realized there is something different that I see in the figure of a father, namely how a father must grow up without a father figure himself but is given the responsibility to be a father to his children today.
A father is a leader, head of the family, role model, teacher, and also an individual who must provide for the family. Of the many responsibilities that are carried out, at this point, at the age of my father, who is approaching 60, I want to appreciate my father. Although what I did could not immediately repay everything he had given, with his permission I was able to gain knowledge to this point. In today's society, the relationship between fathers and sons who have grown up is not so good. From several social phenomena that I have encountered, it is largely related to early childhood education given by the father figure and how to maintain the child's emotions during his growth.
This film for me is a medium to say and convey the word thank you, because when talking face to face, it feels s awkward. We who are positioned in a condition as two adult men, are unable to open up to each other to express affection. Father in his way conveys affection, and I, as a child, also do the same thing in my way of conveying that affection to Father.
