Yesterday and Today, the City's Space

The short film is conceived on alternations: between contemplative images and direct statements; between historical city and contemporary developments; between beauty and banality; between ancient music and
today's music; between freedom and prejudice. The work was inspired by the realization of an architectural complex on the outskirts of the city of Padua (the Net Center), but the direct voice of the two architects - AurelioGalfetti and Luciano Schiavon - takes the audience to think (with words and images, accompanied by inspired music) on the strength of the city as the scenario of civilization; which found, at various times, different expressions, but always relies on public spaces. The director - Sergio Cancellieri - by means of a remarkable research, finds images poetic and sharp at the same time, following the statement by Le Corbusier "La ville, phénomène de poésie"; but frankly representing even the cultural poverty of certain suburbs and certain places in the Veneto Region where the care for the territory was missed.
Much of the work is devoted to three topics of undeniable importance: the first is the history and its relation to what is done today, stating the need for a sincere attitude towards the time in which we live (Der Zeit ihre Kunst. Der kunst ihre Freiheit); the second is the freedom of expression in opposition to fashion cliché or law constraints and the third is the relationship between local and global in which we observe that the great architectural and urban civilization of the past is the result of a wide cultural diffusion.
