Yard Sale is a passion project for writer/producer Garry MacLean. The concept was first developed in 2013 while Garry and his family were on a road trip to a family reunion when they passed a sign on the highway reading, “Yard Sale 10 kms <--”. It seemed odd to Garry and his wife that there would be a yard sale in practically the middle of nowhere. The creative Juices started flowing and the story was developed to create a fun little horror film.
The short film script was finalized in 2015 but it would have to wait a further 4 years before filming would commence. After receiving a grant through the ACTRA MIP Grant program, Garry was able to get the film started in February 2019 with actual filming spanning 2 days in early March. By the end of April, the project was complete.
It is now the goal of Garry to run the festival circuit with hopes of gaining some recognition and using any accolades to pursue funding opportunities for a feature length version of the short film. This project is but a stepping stone to a larger project.
