No matter how distant I am, and consumed in the new way, I find you in my memories, in my knowledge, in my choices, and my pursuit. You never left, you were always here.

A tribute to the teachings of my late mother.

YOU WERE ALWAYS HERE plays on the theme of reconnection, place finding and belonging in the ever changing urban landscapes.
In the cracks, the alleyways and roadsides I find the natural world actively adapting and evolving to fit, the fire weed grows around the street posts and wild ginger shaded with the fern, glows under the neon lights of a convenience store. It grew its roots here. I look closer and see my mothers teachings, the strength of our spirit world, and the lessons the flora is teaching me through its act of living. I remember now that you were always here.
