Director Statement

After graduating from college, I worked as a cashier in a local bakery shop in Turkey. I have loved baking since the first day I watched my mom baking pastries at home but working as a cashier in a bakery for 60-70 hours a week was not the most pleasant experience. I realized love & joy in a working environment were not easy to come by. As I get closer to graduating with my master’s degree, I feel the same fear of facing the harsh realities of the work environment more than ever.

Wrong Step In The Right Direction was born out of this fear. Adem is a failed photographer. After his father passes away, he takes charge of the family-owned neighborhood bakery. He gets stuck in a small bakery where he used to work with his father when he was a little child. Now he has to find his own way while struggling to keep the bakery.

I enjoyed my time working on this project bringing my experience in the bakeries into this production. I can’t wait to share this heartfelt story with a wide audience.
