Casper Flatman is a Toronto-based animator, rigger and storyboarder.
He loves implementing themes of nostalgia and hiding easter eggs for viewers of all ages to relate to.
He's currently in his 4th year of school at MTM studying animation.
He wants to work in children's educational TV programs!
This film originally started as an assignment, "Create a 3rd year 2D animated film in Toonboom".
I had plenty of possible short films planned out towards the end of my 2nd year, but none of them really seemed to stick with me as something I wanted to dedicate a whole year of schooling to.
Frustrated, dejected and burnt out after a long winter full of assignments and deadlines I went for a walk around my childhood neighbourhood where I saw the first worm of the season wriggling its way across the sidewalk and suddenly it hit me.
My younger sibling and I used to go "worm hunting" every spring when it rained. Colleting worms in tupperware with our mom in the gutters on the side streets and of course, creating a competition out of it.
This project quickly became so much more than an assignment. It is a love letter to my childhood and the sibling rivalry that came with it.
I hope that everyone can see a little bit of themselves in this film.
