Womp Womp
This animated film is about a moth, a head, and a lightbulb. When these three elements combine, all sorts of gruesome chaos ensues. With the possibility of many interpretations, the film's central theme is mental health and the effects of harmful thoughts.

Ethan Riddle is a visual artist from Bangor PA. He began creating art in 2017 and explores various mediums in his art-making practice.
This project consists of various media united in the completion of a short film. I pursue such varied approaches in my work as an excuse to act on the skills that I have acquired throughout the many years of my art making practice. The elements of the film; whether physical or digital, are intended to create a narrative progression, ignoring believability. The obviousness of material limitations motivates me to embrace aesthetic sensibilities over depicting reality. My interests in the practice of stop motion are a result of its way of consuming time in tiny pieces. Investing in the methodical creates a bond between myself and the work and its processes. The movement of sculptural elements defamiliarizes them by allowing the objects to move in ways that resemble their real counterparts in spite of the fact that their materiality resists such movement. Acting on this idea, a plaster face has the ability to act and look human, but it will never be seen as a human face.
The elements in this video appear as if they are meant to exist in connection with each other and as part of the environment in which I bring life to them through the act of photography and film.
