Women, Wanting

Rebekah Pahl is a writer living in Nashville, TN. In 2020, she edited and co-directed Bury Me At Taylor Hollow which won Best Tennessee Short & the Audience Award at the Nashville film fest. Jill Karrenbrock is an actor and proud SAG-AFTRA member based in Los Angeles. They are a sister duo— though they've both been creating in their respective fields for nearly a decade, this is their first time collaborating on a film.
Women, Wanting is inspired by true events. Our great aunt is 87 years old and has been scammed out of her life savings by someone she's never met. We've wanted to write this story for a long time now but it didn't feel right until we dropped into it in a way that forced us to insert our own struggle, too. Life is complex, love is complex, the ways we go about satisfying desire is complex. It felt important to us to not tie this story up with a bow, but rather leave it open-ended—which feels more like life anyway.
