5 Capital cities.
5 different ways of considering and producing, creating and distributing, seeing and promoting art.
With a camera on their shoulder and a microphone in hand, Joachim Charbit and Caroline Burlacot set out to meet artists and cultural actors.
Art film, road-trip, it is a journey in interviews, music and images, from Tbilisi (Georgia) to Beirut (Lebanon), from Cotonou (Benin) to Lomé (Togo), and from Colombo to Jaffna (Sri Lanka).
All of these countries are characterized by a recent history of upheaval and a current equilibrium whose fragility impacts the artists and their practice.
In Benin, where some make veils, others tunics, she makes canvases, on unique frames. The particularities and moments of life that lead the artists to creation are revealed in intimacy and generosity.
This film taken on the thread of art history is a work in itself.
