He is an up and coming director and cinematographer born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, but based in Toronto.
While pursuing a career in music and sound engineering, he found his passion for filmmaking, discovering how sound can be a part of something much greater. After graduating from Sound Engineering, he started working as a camera operator and video editor for the largest television network in Mexico, where he laboured for three years before flying out to Canada to add a film program to his education, and pursue a career in the film industry.
With his background in sound, and over a dozen music videos to his name, both directing and behind the camera; he developed a knack for visual storytelling, trying to only use dialogue when strictly necessary.
This multidisciplinary background has developed an awareness for all areas of filmmaking, creating depth in the cinematic language that he chooses and always seeking ways to transmit emotion and information through more than just dialogue or images.
Death has been a part of my life since I was young. From grandparents to best friends, grief has been my faithful companion through most of the important stages of life, and it has made sure I made the most of them.
Grief is the ultimate teacher about life. It keeps you grateful. It’s the bittersweet way of making us grow from loss. And it's not only about being grateful for being alive, but being grateful for the people you get to share that life with.
So with this short coming of age story, I found an honest and visual way of portraying that living your own life is the best way to honor your roots, where you came from, and those who are not around anymore.
