Director Biography - Jalen Syncere Parham

Jalen Parham, a.k.a J Syncere, is an Atlanta based filmmaker, writer and photographer. Representing Savannah, GA, Jalen began his journey as filmmaker in 2018, when his love for movies was revitalized by making video projects for class. Since then, he has dove head first into Atlanta's emerging film industry, gaining a wide range of knowledge and applying it to his visual storytelling.

Jalen writes stories that look to change the current way Black people and their culture have previously been depicted in film and media. His content navigates through themes such as the Black experience throughout the diaspora, the search of self, and coming-of-age in the current social climate.

This past year, Jalen wrote and directed his first short film, "With the Homies," and also worked as a Cinematographer for another short, "Transparent." Both films are soon to be released in late 2021/early 2022. He worked as an intern for the award-winning WITH/Agency, assisting on as an office and set Production Assistant while also producing brand content for the company.

"With the Homies" is film that speaks to young men learning to find themselves. In doing that, sometimes you grow apart from people that you grew up with. But, if you resist that growth, it can come back to harm you.
