Director Biography - Shenary Close

I am a current film student (attending Cornish College of the Arts). Originally from Boulder, CO., I never wanted to be a filmmaker, but as it’s the only thing to ever really scare me, I’ve decided to be one. Throughout my work, I’ve explored the visual medium with the intent to understand, as well as continued to write short stories, poems, and screenplays, as well as improve my fine art, for which I care deeply. I’ve successfully written and directed several short films and smaller projects and will continue exploring and developing my filmmaking skills, as well as other creative skills.

Director Statement

I have always been a big believer in the importance of “suspension of disbelief”-- believing in the unreal and allowing yourself to set aside what you know is real. This idea is incredibly applicable in art, especially time art and narrative art, but I also believe it plays a significant role in our ability to learn and grow. The imagination is an everyday muscle.
