Director Biography

I came pretty late to the visual arts, but have been enamoured with writing as a form of escape since my early teens. The first script I ever wrote was a terrible 119 page western that's seen nothing but the back of my cupboard for a decade. I knew I'd never make the film, but from that point on I knew I wanted to entertain people with my stories. As a freelance Photographer and Filmmaker, I now put most of my creative energy into telling stories through both words and images. A picture is worth a thousand words, and I'd much rather be a photographer than a novelist because that sounds a lot harder. My dream is to work on the kind of fiction which replicates the excitement and imagination we all experienced when playing pretend as children.

Director Statement

Witch Hazel is a body horror centred around the intrinsic relationship between the body and the mind. Everyone knows what it's like to have an itch they can't quite scratch, so by pushing that to its extremes I hoped to create a sensory experience to which we can all relate.
