Director Biography - Ben Eckstein

Ben Eckstein holds an MFA in acting from The Academy for Classical Acting and The George Washington University in DC. He preformed in and directed numerous contemporary and classical theatre productions and is the founder and artistic director of No Pants Day acting ensemble in Los Angeles. Ben has written several plays including Midsummer, Dark Horse and Zero Fucks-the play. He is also a fine arts painter and photographer exhibiting in the US and abroad. Zero Fucks is his film directorial debut.

Director Statement

ZERO FUCKS is a dark, subversive, political satire I first wrote as a play during the 2016 US presidential campaign, and due to it’s on stage success, multi-week sold out run, I was inspired to write the script and make it my film directorial debut. In ZERO FUCKS I explored what might be the motivations of a mad man pursuing power and what might happen if he actually got it...well, then he got it, and that exploration became our reality, and in response ZERO FUCKS, as a film, feels more urgent and vital today then ever. We shot over six days in a dark warehouse in the Valley in Los Angeles with an ultra low budget but plenty of creative spirit and with a cast and crew bursting with talent and love for storytelling. It is, hands down, the most gratifying artistic experience of my life, and I'm delighted to share it with you.
