SANCHEZ 2WINZ is a New York City-based artist duo consisting of twin brothers Raúl Sánchez & Rod Sánchez. Their works are live cinema audio/visual pieces, which combine: electroacoustic music, painting, animation, video, poetry, and live visual performance art – creating a surreal experience for the senses in both real and imagined spaces.
Most recently, their audio/visual art successfully raised over $1,000 for charity with the release of their “Winged Painter” official music video tribute dedicated to Tori Amos and the RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) campaign, the largest national anti-sexual violence non-profit organization that was named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine. The Sanchez 2winz music, video and the complete painting were featured on Undented, the central online hub for all-things Tori Amos and their work was also featured on social media channels for RAINN. “Winged Painter” was exhibited at the International Video Art Festival “Borderland: The Entropy of Identities” both at the MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artistico and at the University of Granada in Spain. Fans were able to participate in a contest via their Facebook page, where select listeners won a signature-autographed print of the “Winged Painter” painting by Rod Sánchez featured in the music video (image below).
The short film, “The Winged Painter,” is the culmination of film experiments where digital photography was utilized to document the creation of a painting in real-time and where HD video was utilized to document the expression of an emotion by capturing the flow of paint through water. "The Winged Painter" video was also picked up by Vevo, which now set up a channel for the twins to share their complete and future audio/visual works. Their earlier song “Over White Mountains” is featured on iTunes.
