Director Biography - JAVIER CALVO TORRECILLA

With more than two decades of experience in fiction, documentary, and advertising, he began his career alongside Bigas Luna, working on video creation, documentary, and film projects. He later developed his career as a screenwriter and director at the Catalan production company Ovideo. From 2004 to 2009, he worked in the marketing and advertising department of several film productions, including Yo soy la Juani by Bigas Luna, Remake by Roger Gual, La vida empieza hoy by Laura Maña, and Un instante preciso by Manuel Huerga, among others. He directed Automatic Imperfection and the video art piece Hort in Progress (Bigas Luna/Fundació Joan Miró). From 2011 to 2013, he directed two documentary series for television: Entre2Aguas and Capacitados. As an advertising director, he has directed spots for Bassat Ogilvy, VCCP, Ogilvy Mather, and McCann. His most recent works include the four seasons of the documentary series Sin cobertura on Aragón TV, the feature-length documentary Años de luz, and Cariñena, from the Sea.
