Caroline Locke is a 21-year-old filmmaker, sailing coach, and kiteboarder from Fort Pierce, Florida, whose love for storytelling and adventure is deeply rooted in her experiences on the water. Growing up racing small dinghies and later competing on Olympic Formula Kite racing equipment, she developed a strong appreciation for resilience, nature, and human connection.
Currently pursuing a BFA in Cinema Studies and Moving Image Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder, Caroline is inspired by the strange and cinematic, drawing influence from filmmakers like Nicolas Roeg, Adam Elliot, and Chantal Akerman. Caroline’s ultimate dream is to live on a sailboat, crafting films that inspire connection while celebrating life’s beauty and peculiarities.
I created Winds of Vitality to share the deep sense of freedom, connection, and joy I’ve found through wind sports. Growing up as a sailor and later transitioning to kiteboarding, I experienced firsthand how these sports transcend the rigid structures of traditional athletics. Unlike the hypermasculine, competitive culture of many mainstream sports, wind sports offer a space where age, gender, and hierarchy dissolve in the shared rhythm of wind and water.
Through the stories of those who find meaning and vitality on the water, I hope to challenge perceptions of what sports can be and inspire viewers to see the restorative and transformative power of play.
