Window Diaries
Choreographed, performed, filmed and produced by Laura Engholm.
This screendance is choreographed as a trio between Me, Myself and I as a response to the current, pandemic situation where one only has herself to dance with. How do we support, play and interact when we cannot be together?
The piece is constructed from a series of movement diaries that tell stories about longingness, boredom, loneliness, restlessless and restriction during times of isolation. The diaries attempt to turn imprisonment into a playground where sarcasm, clowning and play time can feed a last ray of hope and cover feelings of emptiness. Joining the diaries together is a desperate attempt of finding some sort of connection.

Laura Rønning Engholm is a Danish dance artist and emerging choreographer currently based in London where she is studying in her final year of an undergraduate in contemporary dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Before moving to London, Laura studied with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company where she began her choreographic practice and premiered her debut piece "Inside Out" in Zhichri Theatre in Israel. During her dance studies at Trinity Laban, Laura continued her choreographic practice and has recently received the Trinity Laban Innovation Award for her project the Homeground Project which will unfold during autumn 2020.
Reflecting weeks and weeks of isolation and the insanity that comes with it, Window Diaries became a piece where I found myself dwelling in-between personalities. A piece that helped me recognize how the bored, lost, floppy, pedestrian dancer interacts and connects with her slightly eccentric, theatrical and unpredictable self.
