William Gauthier is a French-Canadian writer, director and producer based in Toronto, Canada.
He's been working in film for nearly a decade – he got his start as an assistant director on several Montréal-based productions, including District 31, Québec's most-watched TV show.
His directorial debut, Each Other, won the Best Short Drama Award at the 2023 Inside Film Festival. That same year, he was named the Best First Time Filmmaker by the Swedish International Film Festival, as well as earning a Best Director nomination at the Toronto Indie Shorts.
While his films are mostly rooted in the drama genre, he enjoys dabbling in many aspects of cinema to tell stories that explore the emotional core of complex characters and impact the audience with themes relating to family, resilience and the different faces of grief.
He is the president and founder of Studio Vallion, as well as the co-founder of the award-winning production company Pilgrimage Productions.
