Kentronn Malmadh based in Atlanta, Georgia is a former high school history teacher turned film teacher. Now he takes his role as an all-around filmmaker. Malmadh has always been active in empowering youth through teaching all elements of film. He writes fresh screenplays and has a slate of ideas to match. He is a gem, even a bird waiting to be heard. A new voice in the industry, an innovative, next level type of filmmaker. During his time at Clayton State University continuing education film and media production track, he worked on many short projects as key grip, sound mixer, and assistant director. He is a self-taught writer and learned his craft by sending his work to editors, coaches, and getting his work evaluated constantly. While at the same time reading books and going to workshops. “I wanted to learn from the greats and professionals, mimic them then create my own voice.” He believes the best teacher is correction, critiquing, and mistakes. His dream is to be a writer, director and produce a slate of films.
This short film is a female, character driven proof of concept. What inspired me to write this film is watching other protagonist serial killers through the years. I wanted to make something different an African American psycho type killer. I took many elements of my aunties, mother, teachers and made an extreme version of it. Like the part when Mama Duke was mad with her guest for not coming to dinner. It happens but not to that extreme. This is my first short film, a class project that I wrote very quickly. My favorite part of the process is seeing it in my head then writing it. My next favorite part is the casting of actors. Yes, I love casting actors, seeing the different ways and personalities bring life to the words on the page. My least favorite part of the process is scheduling. This proof of concept is fresh or something different that keeps the audience on their feet. I want the audience to feel or think of what they would do in certain situations. What would they do if they entered the same house? I want my audience to want more or want a part two after watching this film. As a writer director this film is to provide my audience with an outlet pure entertainment. The intro, buildup, and climax lead to a satisfying finish for the viewers. Lastly, I must give it up for an all-star cast. I truly believe that my unknown very talented cast will find their way through this film. They were amazing to work with and made shooting this film a breeze.
