Whorechild / Horunge

A film about the mother-son relationship, hierarchies, slutshamming and abuse of power. When Adrian's mom breaks up with his swim coach Adrian ends up being the victim of the coach's anger. The water becomes the only safe space left for him.

Director Biography - Therese Karlsson

With a background in art, theater and acting Therese felt as film was the next step. She has directed theater before and Whorechild is her first major short film. Therese enjoyed working with the meaning of water in this film, figuring out the symbolic meanings of it and how it would be portrayed.

Director Statement

Whorechild focus on the strength within children and their internal compass of justice, what's right and what's wrong. Injustices take place everywhere, also in sports arenas, therefor the film is very important. The film is a conversation starter we all need.
