Experiencing Interruptions?

Who benefits from oil and gas in Uganda?

Maendeleo ya Jamii (MYJ) believes that the most empowering and sustainable way to achieve constructive citizen participation in the governance of any natural resource is to demonstrate the direct and indirect economic value of that resource in their daily lives. With the petroleum sector in Uganda having commenced the development phase over the next 4 years and investments worth USD 15 billion expected during that phase, it is urgent that citizens take the initiative now to prepare themselves to meaningfully participate in the various direct and indirect supply chains availed by this phase, and to call duty-bearers to account when economic access and rights are denied. MYJ is facilitating community and local government collaboration to access economic opportunities in the petroleum sector through stakeholder engagement and training.
