White Knight

Seeking redemption, or perhaps a miracle, a lone knight travels a desolate land immersed in an endless winter. In another time, a poet destined for a bright future composes his work in verse. The grace that the knight is looking for is that of Art which manages to overcome even the apparent defeat of men and the inexorable passing of time.

Director Biography - Gianfrancesco Iacono

Gianfrancesco Iacono è nato a Palermo nel 1986. Laureato in Lettere Moderne, lavora come consulente nel settore dell’audiovisivo. È autore di quattro cortometraggi d’animazione e co-regista di un cortometraggio documentario, tutti lavori selezionati presso numerosi festival e rassegne cinematografiche in Italia e all’estero.

Gianfrancesco Iacono was born in Palermo in 1986. Graduated in Modern Literature, he works as a consultant in the audiovisual sector. He is the author of four animated short films and co-director of a documentary short film. All these works have been selected at numerous film festivals in Italy and abroad.

NOTE DI REGIA
“Il cavaliere bianco” nasce dall’immagine di un uomo, perso nella bufera, che attraversa un deserto innevato. La mia passione per la storia medievale ha poi fatto il resto nel tentativo di dare forma e sostanza alla trama; il collegamento finale con Dante Alighieri, e naturalmente con la “Divina Commedia”, è stato poi un passo quasi automatico che mi ha permesso di inserire un legame diretto con la mia amata Sicilia attraverso la figura del re Manfredi, figlio dell’imperatore Federico II “Stupor mundi”. Entrambi, padre e figlio, sono ancora ben presenti nell’immaginario, e nell’affetto, dei siciliani, così come Dante, in misura ancora maggiore, è nel cuore di tutti gli italiani.

ENGLISH VERSION
“White Knight” was born from the image of a man lost in a storm while crossing a snowy desert. My passion for medieval history then did the rest in the attempt to give shape and substance to the plot; the final connection with Dante Alighieri, and naturally with the "Divine Comedy", was then an almost automatic step that allowed me to insert a direct link to my beloved Sicily through the figure of King Manfredi, son of Emperor Frederick II "Stupor mundi". Both, father and son, are still very present in the imagination and affection of Sicilians, just as Dante, to an even greater extent, is in the hearts of all Italians.
