Director Biography

This rotating color filter projects white light when run at 24 fps. The film portrays the colored frames in slow motion, then advances to speed and portrays the light as though you are seeing it onto a motion picture screen. It is followed by four animated pencil tests that were shot on color filmstock, and shows the original projection as if on a white screen. The blueish tinge is how the filmstock treats the filter, thus providing an authentic experience.

Director Statement

A RGB Color Filter was developed to record color films onto Black and White stock, to preserve color films that had their emulsion layers degraded by time. The B&W film was then bipacked in a projector with the rotating RGB filter, and projected with the colors intact. The B&W film record makes the preservation of the original possible as copies of the film are made. The stability of B&W film outlasts color film and the original now needs no further handling and can be stored safely along with the new master copy.
