Whispers of the Don

Inspired by true crime figures of the Roaring Twenties, Whispers of the Don uses a fictional encounter between Carlo, the first Mafia boss in Dallas, and a Dallas newspaperman. As Carlo grapples with failing health and impending mortality, he invites the reporter to his estate, despite objections from his brother, who serves as his trusted second-in-command in the Italian crime family. Carlo plans to use the interview to offer insights into its origins, operations, and the challenges he faced as a Mafia boss, but the "confession" takes an unexpected turn.

Marc Isaacs, a screenwriter, actor, and producer, hails from rural northern New York and resides in Buffalo. With a strong journalistic background, he has honed his skills by crafting compelling narratives that revolve around real people and true events. A dedicated member of SAG-AFTRA since 2014, Marc's acting journey began in college where he studied Speech and Theatre at St. Lawrence University and he spent a decade working in commercials, industrials, films, and TV in Texas. His primary focus has now shifted to screenwriting, and Marc is passionate about creating stories, screenplays, and pilot scripts that shed light on lesser-known historical figures and events, while also weaving his own true-life experiences into captivating narratives.

Drawing from my deep fascination with real individuals and historical events, I crafted a narrative inspired by the enigmatic figure of the first crime boss in Dallas, whose influence reverberated through the Roaring Twenties. By immersing myself in authentic Dallas locales and historical context, I aimed to infuse the story with an undeniable sense of time and place. Moreover, I intricately wove connections to other prominent crime families across the United States during that era, enriching the narrative tapestry with layers of intrigue and complexity. Through meticulous research and creative storytelling, I sought to illuminate the forgotten corners of history while paying homage to the enduring allure of real-life characters.
