Wherever The Path Takes Us
Havva moves to Madrid with her boyfriend but struggles with language and social isolation, leading to a sense of not belonging. The sociopolitical situation in her home country isn’t better, leaving her feeling trapped. Despite her struggles, music helps her connect with others and express her emotions, providing a glimmer of hope in her situation.

National Film Competition - Jury Award
A Turkish film producer and director based in Istanbul and Madrid. She has extensive training in filmmaking, scriptwriting, and musical theatre, and has directed two short films, one of which she played the lead role in. Elif is also the co-founder of Elph Films production company.
In my short film, inspired by my own immigration experience, I have tried to portray themes such as inner strength, hope, and the search for connection in a naive language by following Havva's stuck world with a shoulder camera and a 4:3 frame ratio. I focused on creating a rich visuality with vibrant colours and different art branches in the musical theatre school and creating discomfort in the audience by using some jump-cuts in the editing.
The filming was completed in three days with a professional crew in Madrid, and although language and cultural barriers posed difficulties, we overcame them with the help of my teammates. We composed the song at the end of the film to reflect the emotions of the character.
In these days when migration is on the rise, this film, which I wanted to tell an inner conflict about the feeling of loneliness in society and which also contains universal elements such as love and belonging, has added new perspectives to my working principles and expanded my art circle. In my future projects, I aim to focus primarily on telling stories from Turkey and collaborate with other countries.
