When we meet under the same sky
This is the stories of migrant workers, and this is also our stories, this is a kind of interpretation about China Dream. There are 280 million migrant workers in China, the rapid urbanization and the traditional household registration system lead to this vast population underlying people.
There is another group, they are successful in China. Under the director's arrangement, this two different groups are intertwined. Migrant workers contribute to the modernization of China, contribute to the Made in China and contribute to the huge service sector of China. Their contributions blend in with the city, yet they do not fit into the city themselves.

In 2014, when discussing a reality show with Mr. Robert Thirkell, a well-known director and producer of the BBC, I found that many of his shooting ideas in the field of reality show matched well with my documentary shooting practice, such as deeply focus on the bottom of society, the understanding of a story, the skills of telling a story etc. Thus, there is an idea of introducing reality TV elements into documentary creation. Fortunately, this idea was put into practice shortly thereafter.
We selected several migrant workers as the major charactors of the story, and took an entrepreneur as the perspective to observe them. It took nearly a year to select and edit the story, and completed all the post-production work of the film.
280 million migrant workers constitute the cornerstone of China's economic miracle in the past 40 years. They are one of the biggest group in my country, but they are also the group most easily being neglected. As Zhang Yaqin, president of Baidu, one of China's largest Internet companies, said in the film, "They are like water, like air, like the blood of the city. We can hardly feel their existence, but they are indispensable."
In reality, the living conditions of these migrant workers are just like it in the film. The fate of these migrant workers is very luckily changed by chance, but it is almost impossible in real life. So my stories are more like an imperfect fairy tale. What I want to do is trying to map the social reality through their stories, integrated my thoughts and own understanding into the film.
