When the man kind was alike
Onam, the cultural festival of Kerala is a celebration of love and brotherhood without the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
Mahabali is the Asura king who lost his crown and his kingdom after a treacherous plot by the Devas. Equality and prosperity were the hallmarks of Mahabali's rule of Kerala.
Legend says that every year the king visits Kerala to meet his people on the Thiruvonam day. Keralites around the world celebrate onam as a welcome gesture to their generous king. As part of the onam celebrations every year on the third onam day Pulikkali is organized in Thrissur.
As a culmination to the Onam celebrations of the year with the Pulikkali in Thrissur, a youth wishes to participate in pulikkali, the tiger dance and his harrowing experience with the contemporary keralite's attitude of hate and selfishness and how it turns over his life forms the Crux of the story of the movie "Manusharellarum Onnupole" A true retrospective on how far we have gone astray from the ideal Mahabali land that was a part of the Kerala culture is depicted with utmost truth and clarity.
